Powercom staff bids warm farewell to CMD Baldev Singh Sran

Baldev Singh Sran retired today as CMD, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL), marking the culmination of an illustrious career that began as an SDO. Throughout his journey, he not only led the corporation with distinction but also served as the President of PSEB Engineers Association (PSEBEA), championing the cause of the power sector. He is well conversant with the nitty-gritty of power purchase agreements
Sran has served as the PSPCL CMD for several years and has been instrumental in the corporation’s efforts to stabilise power distribution in Punjab, improve infrastructure, and streamline operations. He served as CMD from June 6, 2018, to 2020 and later he was again appointed as CMD on December 23, 2021.
Under his leadership, PSPCL made significant strides in tackling electricity shortages, improving power supplies, cutting costs and became the first government entity which has brought a National Company Law Tribunal. He also bucked the pressure on bundling of solar and rice straw-based power.
His tenure has been defined by his exceptional technical expertise, unwavering commitment to the power sector, and an emphasis on operational excellence. He has always prioritised transparency, efficiency. His dedication to upholding the highest professional and ethical standards has set a benchmark for the entire engineering community.

V K Gupta informed that with the out of box thinking of Baldev Singh, PSPCL has managed the power requirements of Punjab in a commendable manner and made the corporation a profitable venture. The power sector has witnessed all-around improvement under his leadership . There was a policy of zero tolerance to power theft and corruption.
