PPDF supports Health Professionals Protection Bill

Patiala Pensioner Doctors Forum (PPDF) has welcomed and supported The Healthcare Personnel and Healthcare Institutions (Prohibition of Violence and Damage to Property) Bill, 2023 introduced in the Lok Sbha by Member of Parliament Shashi Tharoor on Friday.
According to Dr DS Bhullar, member of the Forum and Former State President of Punjab State Medical and Dental Teachers Association, such law is a long pending demand of the health professionals of the country for protection of the healthcare personnel and the institutions increasing day by day and to stop acts of violence against healthcare personnel, including paramedical students & workers, administrative staff & ASHA workers” which should be treated as a cognisable and non-bailable offence.
During the COVID pandemic there were several instances of attacks on healthcare professionals and Centre had introduced a bill, but it did not become an Act, said Dr Bhullar hoping for a positive development.
