The Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) commemorated the 75th Republic Day with spectacular celebrations held at its Board Secretariat in Sector 19, Chandigarh, and across its major project locations in Nangal, Sundernagar and Talwara, including various Sub-Stations in the States of Punjab & Haryana.

Manoj Tripathi, Chairman, BBMB, hoisted the National Flag at the BBMB Board Secretariat, infusing the atmosphere with a profound sense of patriotism. The celebration was enriched with a myriad of captivating cultural performances, featuring enchanting patriotic songs that resonated with the spirit of the occasion. A vibrant display of scintillating dance performances, inspiring speeches, and imaginative fancy dress presentations brought the celebration to life. To symbolize the 75th Republic Day, 75 tricolour balloons were released into the sky, creating a breathtaking visual spectacle.The event was also webcasted live, allowing BBMB employees at various project locations to actively participate in this momentous occasion.

Manoj Tripathi, Chairman, BBMB, reflected on the essence of Republic Day, underscoring its representation of unity in diversity and the principles of justice, equality, liberty, and fraternity. He emphasized the importance of embracing the values enshrined in the constitution and urged everyone to commit to these ideals.

Acknowledging BBMB’s commitment to national renewable energy goals, Manoj Tripathi revealed the Board’s plans to award the contract for the construction of the 42 MW Baggi Hydro Electric Project by March 2024. Additionally, BBMB is set to commission various ground-mounted and floating solar power plants with an aggregate capacity of approximately 44.5 MW by March, 2025. Furthermore, BBMB has identified eight sites for setting up Pumped Storage Plants (PSPs) with a total installed capacity of about 13,000 MW. The process of preparing a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the 1,500 MW PSP at Bhakra has already commenced, and the preparation of DPR for another 2,800 MW PSP at Pong is underway.
