Paying tributes to Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the Punjab Government has commenced state-level programs dedicated to the 350th Martyrdom day of the Guru, to spread his message of supreme sacrifice, truth, and religious freedom across humanity.
Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, while addressing at the Auditorium of Virasat-e-Khalsa today, stated that the unparalleled martyrdom of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was not for one religion or sect but for the fundamental rights and dignity of all humanity. He added that the Punjab Government is ensuring that the message of the Guru’s supreme sacrifice reaches every corner of Punjab and the country so that future generations can draw inspiration and guidance from this great act of sacrifice.
Sharing details of the extensive commemorative events, Harjot Singh Bains said that programs dedicated to the Martyrdom Day have started across the state from November 4. These events are designed in a way that people of all age groups, especially youth and students, can actively participate.
Bains also announced that from November 10, a 15-day mandatory educational curriculum will begin in all schools of Punjab, from nursery to class 12, aimed at making children aware of this significant chapter in history. Additionally, all universities, colleges, ITIs, and polytechnic institutions have been instructed to organize seminars and events dedicated to the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary.
A special 45-minute Light and Sound Show depicting the life and martyrdom of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji will be organized in all districts, beginning on November 4 from Patiala, Jalandhar, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Pathankot, followed by other districts. The show at Sri Anandpur Sahib will take place on November 20 at Charan Ganga Stadium.
The Minister informed that four Nagar Kirtans will be organized from different parts of the country. One will start on November 19 from Gurudwara Chhevin Patshahi, Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir), which will witness participation from Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal, J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Punjab Cabinet Ministers, and MLAs. The remaining three Nagar Kirtans will originate from Faridkot, Bathinda, and Gurdaspur, all converging at Sri Anandpur Sahib on November 22. During these processions, all ministers, MLAs, and officers will serve as humble volunteers.
From November 23 to 25, the sacred city founded by Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji — Sri Anandpur Sahib — will host grand celebrations dedicated to the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary. The events will begin on November 23 with Akhand Path Sahib, followed by a Sarv Dharam Sammelan, an exhibition at Virasat-e-Khalsa, and in the evening, a first-of-its-kind Drone Show depicting Guru Sahib’s life and sacrifice at 5 PM, followed by a Kirtan Darbar at 6 PM. The day will conclude with the ceremony of “Shahadat Di Loh” (Flame of Martyrdom), lighting the holy city with torches.

On November 24, the ‘Sees Bhent’ Nagar Kirtan will start from Sri Kiratpur Sahib and arrive at Sri Anandpur Sahib. For the first time in history, a special session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha will be held at Bhai Jaita Ji Memorial, Sri Anandpur Sahib, from 12 noon to 4 PM, to pay tribute to the Ninth Guru. On November 25, following the conclusion of Sri Akhand Path Sahib, eminent Kirtani Jathas will perform soulful Kirtan of the 9th Guru’s Bani.
He further shared that a Sarv Dharam Sammelan involving spiritual leaders from various faiths will also be organized. Invitations have been extended to the Jathedars of all five Takhts, the Head Granthi of Sri Darbar Sahib, Ravi Shankar , Acharya Lokesh Muni , and other renowned spiritual figures to highlight the Guru’s universal message of unity and harmony.
A three-day Drone Show (November 23–25) featuring 500 drones will be organized at Virasat-e-Khalsa, depicting Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s life and sacrifice — the first such show in North India, serving as a heartfelt tribute to the Ninth Guru.
Harjot Singh Bains stated that around one crore devotees from across the world are expected to participate in these events. The Punjab Government has made extensive arrangements, including three large Tent Cities to accommodate over 11,000 pilgrims daily from November 19 to 30. Parking facilities are being developed across 106 acres along major routes leading to Sri Anandpur Sahib.
He added that 500 e-rickshaws and 100 mini-buses will operate within the holy city, offering free travel services for devotees. Additionally, free special bus services will run from every tehsil of Punjab to Sri Anandpur Sahib from November 23 to 25 to ensure smooth travel for all pilgrims.
Extending a warm invitation to the Sangat, Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said, “On behalf of the Punjab Government, I invite all devotees to gather in reverence to pay homage to the life and legacy of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji.”
He also appealed to the residents of Sri Anandpur Sahib to fully cooperate with the government and administration in maintaining cleanliness and serving the pilgrims with devotion. A large number of local dignitaries were present on this occasion.
