Project initiated by PS to CM as PSPCL CMD withdrawn

On the directions of aam admi party (AAP)’s government in Punjab, Punjab state power corporation limited (PSPCL) authorities has issue a withdrawal orders of the proposal to sell its High School building on prime land at Power Colony GGSSTP, Ropar.

Punjab state power corporation limited has forwarded a proposal during the earlier congress regime also to sell the High school building on a prime land at Power Colony GGSSTP, Ropar. Then, the department had issued an Expression of Interest and invited the applications to “buy the High School building on as is where basis at Power Colony, GGSSTP, Ropar. Detail of the property is available at our website www.pspcl.in Last date for submission 28-10-2021 at 11.00 AM.”

The proposal to sell the prime land of the powercom was initiated by the than CMD of Punjab state power corporation limited (PSPCL) A Venu Prasad (IAS), now PS to CM Bhagwant Mann.

Later, in December 2021, Er Baldev Singh Sran was appointed the CMD in place of A Venu Prasad. In January 2022, code of conduct was imposed and on March 10, 2022 Bhagwant Mann led aam admi party (AAP) made a clandestine victory in Punjab.

Before the incumbent chief minister Bhagwant Mann assumes office on March 16,2022, senior IAS officer A Venu Prasad was appointed principal secretary to the chief minister on March 12,2022

Punjab state power corporation limited has once again issue the “Expression of Interest to sell its prime property on March 26,2022 –“proposal to buy High School building on as is where basis at Power Colony, GGSSTP, Ropar. Detail of the property is available at our website www.pspcl.in Last date for submission 12-4-2022 at 11.00 AM.”

“In our earlier Expression of Interest, PSPCL didn’t get any response from any buyer to buy this prime land of around 5-6 acres ” said the tender issuing officer, Addl.S.E/Tech,for  Dy.Chief Engineer /Civil,GGSSTP, Rupnagar.

Another top functionary of the power corporation, on the condition of anonymity  said ” as the powercom didn’t get any response in its earlier try , so the concerned authority reissues the EoI in routine. The said school is not functioning. Its already closed and the building is lying vacant. Some of the politicians are just giving a political colour to this, for their own interest.”

After the issue came to light today the powercom issue the withdrawal orders of this Expression of Interest.

During the tenure of A Venu Prasad, another proposal to lease out the VVIP Lake view Guest House at GNDTP, Bathinda was also initiated. An Expression of Interest was also issued to lease out the property to run a hotel and restaurant and the last date for applying was kept as 13-5-2021. At that time three bidders had shown interest. They want some extra sanctions, benefits for which the powercom management didn’t agree. That project goes in limbo.
