PSEB engineers’ association welcomes dedication of Shri Guru Amardas Thermal Plant Goindwal Sahib to People of Punjab

Today on 11th February 2024 a delegation of PSEB Engineers Association led by President Er JS Dhiman met Chief Minister of Punjab to extend heartfelt gratitude on behalf of engineers of PSPCL and PSTCL for the acquisition of Shri Guru Amardas Thermal Plant Goindwal Sahib with generation capacity of 540 MW.

11th of February 2024, shall be etched into the annals of history as a pioneering event nationwide, the acquisition of a private thermal plant by a state-sector corporation.

The association extended its felicitations to the dynamic and visionary leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, Power Minister Harbhajan Singh, and Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh. Their embrace of professional and technically adept advice underscores their commitment to progress. Furthermore, the association expressed gratitude towards the PSPCL management, engineers and officers whose relentless dedication facilitated this historic feat, achieved at a competitive cost of Rs 2 Cr per MW vis-a-vis the cost for a new thermal that exceeds Rs 8 Cr per MW.

The acquisition of this plant holds immense potential, promising reliable and cost-effective power generation for the populace of Punjab. With optimism, the association anticipates that under his astute leadership, the power sector will burgeon, offering the industry and consumers of the state access to dependable, affordable, and high-quality power.

PSEB engineers’ association welcomes dedication of Shri Guru Amardas Thermal Plant Goindwal Sahib to People of Punjab. The Punjab government has purchased this 540 MW power plant at Rs 2 crore per MW. This is much less than other power plants whose acquisition has been made at Rs 3 crore per MW. The Power plant has been renamed as Sri Guru Amardass Thermal Power plant after the third Sikh Guru.
