In a significant move to address critical challenges and enhance the efficiency of power distribution, Director Distribution DPS Grewal chaired a meeting in Jalandhar, bringing together Chief Engineers (CE/DS) and Superintending Engineers (SE/DS).

The meeting covered a comprehensive agenda, beginning with a review of Technical return as per the District Returns portal for effective tracking and reporting.

Discussions on pending connections included a status update on feasibility cases, A&A approval, demand notices, and the release of connections. The meeting also delved into the age-wise and category-wise analysis of pending test reports, with data provided by DS Zones.

Examining pending defaulting amounts of both government and non-government establishments, up to October 31, 2023, was a crucial agenda point. The session also included a review of recovery suits and execution cases, presented by DS Zones.

The meeting addressed the status of pending dismantled meters and provided insights into the return of dismantled meters to the ME Lab.

Strategies for paddy preparation in 2024 were discussed, focusing on de-loading overloaded distribution transformers and 11 KV feeders. Additionally, the evaluation of damaged but unreplaced distribution transformers and the need for shunt capacitors were highlighted.

Director Distribution also reviewed the progress of checking power theft and releasing new connections in high loss areas. The discussion extended to metering, encompassing paperless billing and the installation of government connections.

The meeting also addressed consumer services, including the status of 1912 complaints, daily supply complaint resolution, online application helpdesk status and the number of outage alerts and shutdowns intimated to IT for alerts.

The meeting concluded with Director DPS Grewal underscoring the importance of collaborative efforts and timely action to address challenges and ensure optimal power distribution.
