PSPCL management fails to utilize its own sporting facilities during All India ESCB Athletics Meet

Today, two days 45th All India Electricity Sports Control Board (AIESCB) Athletics Meet concluded at Patiala. The meet was hosted by Punjab state power corporation limited. The sports extravaganza began with great enthusiasm and fervor at the Netaji Subhash National Institute of Sports in Patiala on Friday.
The event witnessed a significant turnout of athletes from different states and Union Territories, including Maharashtra, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Delhi, BBMB besides the hosting team-PSPCL.
PSPCL organized this prestigious sporting event of All India Electricity Sports Control Board (AIESCB) after a long time.
PSPCL has organized this event at Netaji Subhash National Institute of Sports (popularly known as NIS), in Patiala after paying the nominal fees for two days event, though PSPCL has its own sports complex at Badungar.
PSPCL sports complex has a huge ground, athletic track, hockey, basketball, cricket etc games facilities. Sportsperson of the powercom practices at the sports complex on daily basis.
Even the powercom sports incharge, Madhuri Saxsena is an asian games medalist in athletics, arjuna awardee. The event was allocated to PSPCL much in advance despite this the PSPCL fails to utilize her services in organisng this prestigious athletic meet at its sports complex
A PSPCL former officer who remained associated with the powercom sports department said on the condition of anonymity that “in our time, we used to orgainse various events at the powercom’s sports complex. Even the opening ceremony, closing ceremony were organized at the powercoms sports complex. In addition to this, whenever required we had orgainsed some events at other places like NIS. But, our first priority always remained to utilize our own resources.”
When contacted the director administration Jasbir Singh Sur Singh on PSPCL management fails to utilize its own sporting facilities during All India ESCB Athletics Meet, he said” we organized this event after a long period. We selected NIS as it has all the facilities. Though we missed this opportunity but next time we will use our grounds, ours sports facilities to the maximum level. Our govt is sincerely promoting sports at all levels and recently chief minister Bhagwant Mann has announced to recruit 60 sportsperson in the PSPCL.”
