Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh bereaved

Former Himachal Pradesh chief minister and senior Congress leader Virbhadra Singh died in Shimla in the early hours of Thursday after he suffered from heart attack on Monday and was critical. He was in the critical care unit of Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC). He was 87.
Punjab CM Capt Amarinder had a family relation with Virbhadra Singh. Virbhadra Singh daughter Aparjita Kumari is married to Angad Singh, who is son of Amarinder Singh’s daughter Jai Inder Kaur.
Punjab CM tweeted “Deeply saddened to hear of the passing away of former Himachal CM Raja Virbhadra Singh Ji. An able administrator and a gentleman who was loved by the people, he was not just an elder brother but also a mentor to many to us. May God grant his soul eternal peace.”
Son of Late Raja Sir Padam Singh of Bushahr state, he was born on June 23, 1934 at Sarahan. From a legendary Rampur Bushehr family, former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh remained nine-time MLA and five-time MP and served as Himachal Pradesh’s chief minister for six times. He also served as Himachal Pradesh Congress president in 1977, 1979, 1980 and from 26th August, 2012 to December 2012.The veteran Congress leader also served as union deputy minister, Tourism and Civil Aviation, minister of state for industries, union minister of steel and Union Minister of micro, small & medium enterprises (MSME).
Virbhadra Singh’s wife Pratibha Singh and the couple’s son Vikramaditya Singh are also politicians. Pratibha is former MP, while Vikramaditya is MLA from Shimla rural.
