Punjab government to Start Uromin Lick Blocks Plant in Patiala

In a unique initiative, the Punjab Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries Department is all set to start a Uromin Lick (Pashu Chaat) plant at Govt. Cattle Breeding Farm, Rauni in the Patiala district.
Disclosing this here today, Punjab Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian stated that Uromin Lick (UML) or Urea-Molasses Multi-nutrient Blocks (UMMB) are multi-nutrient blocks that combine energy, protein and minerals, serving as a crucial feed supplement and lifesaver. These mineral-rich blocks help improve the overall body condition of animals, stimulate the cycling of anestrous animals and enhance conception rates.
A storage unit for Uromin Lick blocks will be established in Kapurthala district, Gurmeet Singh Khudian said while adding that these Uromin Lick blocks will be made available to farmers through the Civil Veterinary Hospitals and Dispensaries across the state. The Uromin Lick blocks will be made available at the affordable rates to the marginal livestock farmers.
He said that this technology is a convenient and cost-effective way to provide a range of nutrients to animals by improving the digestion of low-quality roughages. It enhances productivity, besides increasing milk production and improving reproductive efficiency in cattle and buffalo.

Principal Secretary Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries Rahul Bhandari emphasised that this is going to be a boon for the livestock farmers of the state as it will help them increase the production of their milch animals thereby improving their overall economic conditions. He also urged the livestock farmers to adopt this technology in the daily ration of their animals as per the advice of Veterinary Officers of their area so as to have the balanced nutrition to improve the overall production and health of the livestock.
