Punjab govt approves illegal colonies regularization; CLU for industrial/ residential colonies

With the aim to simplify the process, Punjab Government has extended the power of Change of Land Use (CLU) for residential/industrial colonies of all types up to 25 acre and Commercial Colonies up to 5 acre to Chief Administrator (CA).
Disclosing this here today, Punjab Housing Development Minister Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria said that the government has accorded the power to grant CLU under Section 81 of The Punjab Regional and Town Planning and Development Act, 1995 and License (under Punjab Apartment and Property Regulation Act, 1995) for residential/industrial colonies of all types up to 25 acre and Commercial Colonies up to 5 acre will be exercised by Chief Administrator (CA), however the case will be scrutinized and signed jointly by DTP and ACA/(ADC(UD)) where Authority offices don’t exist, before being put up to the CA. This decision will proved helpful for majority of developers to get licenses at local level in their districts.
The Punjab Housing Development Minister Minister said that All ADC (Urban Development) will exercise the regulatory powers under Section 38(1) and 39 of PAPRA, 1995 in their respective Districts. Where Development Authority Offices are situated ACAs posted therein will also exercise the same powers in parallel. He said that the power to regularize illegal colonics also be granted to ACA/ADC(UD) where Authority offices don’t exist, in consultation with DTP will be competent authority to regularize illegal colonies in their respective districts, under the Policy No. 12/01/2017-5HG/ 2/1806 dated 18.10.2018.
