Punjab govt created history; suspended IPS-PPS officers in one go

The Punjab Government has taken stern action against top officials in the fake liquor and drug case. Five police officers, including IG Parmaraj Singh Umranangal IPS (then DIG in Ludhiana Range and now suspended), have been suspended in infamous NDPS act registered by STF.
Those who suspended includes Varinderjit Singh Thind PPS, Assistant commandant 4th IRB Pathankot, Sewa Singh Malhi, PPS, SP (D) Faridkot, Parminder Singh Bath, PPS, DSP , Karansher Singh, PPS, DSP (D) Fatehgarh sahib.
In orders issued in this regard by Home Department, it was said that matter pertains to FIR No. 147, dated 6.11.2020 u/s21, 23, 25, 27 A, 29-61-85 NDPS Act, 25,24, 29 Arms act and 420, 471, 472 IPC at Police Station STF Phase 4 SAS Nagar which pertains to seizure of illegal factory at Khanna.

In November last year, the anti-drug STF had arrested four persons, including a former sarpanch of Rano village in Ludhiana, Gurdeep Singh, recovering 5.39 kg heroin along with Rs 21 lakh ‘drug money’ near Jagraon. Police had said that a fleet of luxury cars and three weapons were also recovered from them. The seized heroin was worth around Rs 26 crore in the international market. The drug network was allegedly being run from Australia.
