Punjab Govt Tech Advisor resigns; resignation accepted on a gazetted holiday

Ravi Chawla, technical advisor to Punjab government has resigned from the post on November 5,2025.
The state government has immediately accepted his resignation and issued orders of acceptance on the same day, November 5,2025 which is a gazetted holiday in Punjab as it was Guru Nanak Dev Jis birthday.
The reasons behind the resignation are not known immediately. As per available information, Chawla was doing well and justifying his job as technical advisor to Punjab government by saving the govt money through his technical knowledge and expertise.
Chawla was appointed on the post on June 20,2024. An engineer of repute, Ravi Chawla who is Master of Engineering (Structural) from Thapar University ,retired as chief engineer in Punjab PWD department has a vast experience and had remained of key postings as chief engineer National Highway, had additional charge of technical advisor to Punjab government, technical advisor to MD, PIDB in addition to nodal officer of CIRF and railways during his service period .

The post was created in the year 2007 and Lt General BS Dhaliwal (Retd.) was appointed as the first technical advisor to Punjab government on January 1,2007. He remained on the post till December 31,2018.
The main job of technical advisor to Punjab government is to check the technical vetting of the tenders above Rs 2.50 crore. Now, as per the orders, the secretary, Punjab government, Ravi Bhagat, IAS has asked the departments to do the ‘vetting’ at their own level.
