Parents of school students of Punjab are in dilemma about the deposit of school fee for the new academic session which is going to start from April first week.

As per the normal procedure the new academic session starts in the first week of April and most of the schools accept the school fee by April 15. After that they charge late fee fine. Now Prime Minister Narinder Modi has already declared national lockdown till April 14.

With the imposition of curfew in Punjab and lockdown in rest of India, the parents are still unclear what to do, as the state government has not issue any advisory to private or government schools about the deposit of fee waiver for lockdown period and extra time after the lifting of the lockdown period.

In contrast Uttrakhand government has issued an order directing the government and private schools in the state to stop collecting the tuition fees from the students due to the COVID-19 spread in the country, as some of the private schools are pressuring the parents of the students to submit the tuition fees immediately.

Ananad Singh Rawat, protocol officer of Uttrakhand government said that “the govt gave an order to stop the collection of fees by all the government and private schools affiliated to the CBSE ICSE or the state boards has been issued and that the fee must not be collected until the situation normalizes.” He further said that the govt will gave some extra days to the parents, whenever the lockdown period is lifted.

Other neighboring state of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh government has also asked private schools affiliated to the CBSE, ICSE and Himachal Board of School Education to put off their fee payment for the new academic year in the light of a curfew in the state.
