Punjab State Open University Joins Governor’s Anti-Drug March

Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University, Patiala, has intensified its contribution to the state-level “War against Drugs” campaign. Prof. (Dr.) Rattan Singh, Vice-Chancellor of JGND PSOU, joined the four-day anti-drug march launched by the Governor of Punjab, Gulab Chand Kataria. The institution’s participation was marked by a strong presence throughout the event; a dedicated team from the JGND PSOU Regional Centre, Firozpur, led the charge with the Vice Chancellor Prof. Rattan Singh, Registrar Prof. (Dr.) Baljit Singh Khehra and CIQA Director Dr. Kuldeep Walia.

In his address during the anti-drug march, Governor of Punjab Gulab Chand Kataria underscored the collective duty of the State and academic institutions to safeguard the next generation, stating that a drug-free environment is the bedrock for the holistic development of Punjab’s youth—the nation’s true strength.

Aligning with this vision, Prof. (Dr.) Rattan Singh, Vice-Chancellor of JGND PSOU, emphasized that the University’s mandate extends far beyond traditional academics to the total eradication of substance abuse. To turn this vision into reality, the University is specifically intensifying its outreach initiatives within Punjab’s border districts, aiming to empower local communities and build a resilient, drug-free social infrastructure.
