Punjab student murdered in Canada; family in shock

A 22-year-old boy from Batala in Gurdaspur district, who had gone to Canada on a study visa, was murdered in Canada on August, 14,2020.
The boy’s family received intimation of his death from the Canada police.
The victim, Surajdeep Singh , a native of Dharowali village in Dera Baba Nanak , shifted to Batala in Gurdaspur district, as his father Kanwaljeet Singh is a patwari in Punjab revenue department, had gone to Canada for studies in around three years ago, after doing 10+2 from Punjab.
The news has sent shockwaves across Batala, where he lives with his family and village Dharowali in Dera Baba Nanak his parental village.
Kanwaljeet Singh, father of the deceased, said, “As per the information, given by the Canadian police, he was murdered in a park during daytime, yesterday,when he was passing through the park. A few black youth, during a snatching incident, stabbed him and later he succumb to his injuries “
Village Dharowali residents said” Surajdeep used to go to the Gurudwara daily, in Canada and is a sober boy. But these black boys have snatched our son “.
Kanwaljeet Singh said “ Surajdeep had no enmity with anyone and was just passing through the Queen Mary Drive and Sandalwood Parkway West in Brampton, Canada, when this incident happened.”
Kanwaljeet Singh said they are not going to Canada to bring his dead body. His friends have started a fundraiser in Canada and they will send the dead body to India, whenever the required amount is collected.
Surajdeep is survived by his parents and a younger brother, who recently passed his 10+2
