The Chairman of the District Planning Committee, Patiala, and District President of the Aam Aadmi Party, Tejinder Mehta, said in a statement issued to the press that the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme being implemented by the Punjab Government is a historic step towards providing modern and equal healthcare services to Punjabis on the lines of developed countries. He said that this scheme will free the common people from the burden of expensive medical treatment and will ensure health security for every Punjabi.

Tejinder Mehta stated that in line with the people-centric vision of Aam Aadmi Party National Convener Arvind Kejriwal and under the guidance of Punjab Affairs In-charge Manish Sisodia, the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has launched this scheme. Under this scheme, free and cashless treatment up to Rs 10 lakh per family will be made available in government as well as empanelled private hospitals. He said that the biggest feature of this scheme is that no income limit has been fixed, and people from every section—including the poor, middle class, farmers, labourers, government employees and pensioners—can avail its benefits. The treatment is completely paperless and includes medicines, diagnostic tests, surgeries, ICU care and treatment for serious diseases as well. For getting the insurance health card made, only Aadhaar card and voter card are mandatory.

Tejinder Mehta said that under the leadership of the party’s State President Aman Arora, people across Punjab are being made aware of this scheme so that no eligible person is deprived of this welfare scheme. This scheme is not limited to treatment alone; rather, it is a major step towards strengthening and making Punjab’s healthcare sector more reliable. He informed that Aam Aadmi Party volunteers will themselves go door to door to get people’s health cards made. He appealed to the general public to get their health cards made under the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme, obtain complete information about the scheme, and avail its full benefits to safeguard their own health and that of their families.
