Punjab will soon become hub of Medical Tourism on global map: Balbir Singh Sidhu

It is quite disheartening to see that everyone in modern world is in tension and anxiety, the easiest way for one to get rid of this perennial mental and physical health problem is the Yoga. Yoga has very important role to play in making a person physically, mentally and economically sound. The Punjab Government is contemplating a flagship program to involve every citizen of the state to make Yoga a part of their daily life routine. It was said by Balbir Singh Sidhu, Health and Family Welfare Minister Punjab after inaugurating the International Yoga Day Conference on Wellness- Health and Medical Tourism held at hotel Mountview sector-10 Chandigarh.
This international conference was organized by Invest Punjab in collaboration with ICSI (International Chamber for Service Industry) on the occasion of Yoga Day. More than 200 delegates from USA, Britain, Thailand, major industry players, corporate, potential investors and strategists of the wellness industry participated in this conference to discuss, deliberate and develop an Ecosystem making Punjab a Medical Tourism Destination. In his inaugural speech Balbir Singh Sidhu said that in the modern world every person is becoming mechanical, they desist from doing physical work which is the root cause of every problem.. He made announcement that Health and Family Welfare Department has in principal decided to fill all the vacant posts related to Yoga in order to recruit experts so as to involve every citizen of the state to keep them fit by performing Yoga. The Minister has also given his go ahead to start a certificate course for medical tourism in the state of Punjab.
Medical Tourism web portal myhealthtrip.com was launched by Sidhu at this occasion. Likewise a Hybrid app MHT and a North Indian’s first e-magazine myhealth trip the first edition of the magazine focusing on wellness and health industry was also launched.
In the second session of the conference, which was presided by D.K Tiwari, Principal Secretary, Technical Education discussions were held on improving the wellness and medical tourism industry in the State of Punjab. Tiwari said that though Punjab has achieved great success in wellness and tourism industry in the last ten years but there is still much scope to take this medical tourism industry of Punjab on global map. He said that wellness and medical tourism industry could offer plentiful opportunities to the students to earn respectable income. He said that even a 12th pass student after doing a three month certified course can get job in this industry. He said that Skill Development Mission Punjab is offering 33 such different courses to the students.
Prof. Kampon Sriwatanakul, Thailand Alternative Medicine Network (TAMN), President and CEO, VITA STEM, Eminent Wellness Expert and Sisopa Riwatthana, Eminent Wellness expert from Thailand were the guest of honour.
