Punjabi University Alumnus conducted specialized session on the ‘Application of AI tools in research paper’ for CSE students

Department of Computer Science, Punjabi University Patiala continuously updates its curriculum to meet emerging industry trends.
As artificial intelligence tools are increasingly demanded for accelerating research and professional processes, the department has integrated AI tool competencies into the Research Methodology course of the PhD coursework.
To support this initiative, Dr. Jatin Gupta, an alumnus of the department and currently Assistant Professor at Chitkara University, conducted a specialized session on the application of AI tools in research paper writing and doctoral research.
Dr. Jatin introduced a range of AI-driven platforms that assist researchers across different stages of the research lifecycle. He demonstrated Semantic Scholar for literature discovery, Consensus for evidence-based academic search, and Google Scholar for citation tracking.
Tools such as ChatGPT and DeepSeek were discussed for drafting, paraphrasing, idea refinement, and methodological support. He elaborated on the use of Google Colab for implementing machine learning experiments and cloud-based computational research. Google Search was emphasized for factual validation and sourcing authentic datasets.
The session highlighted ethical usage, critical evaluation, and limitations of AI tools in academic writing. Participants learned how to use these tools to enhance research productivity, maintain academic integrity, and support originality.
The interactive workshop was well received, and create awareness about responsible AI adoption in scholarly research.
Dr. Gagandeep, Head of the department, Dr. Sukhjeet Ranade, Dr. Vishal Goyal were present during the session and thanked Dr. Jatin for this knowledge session. Prof. Gagandeep informed students that in future such more sessions will be organized for them.
