On the call of the Joint Action Committee, the struggle of teachers, staff and pensioners in front of the Punjabi university Vice-Chancellor’s office today entered its 39th day. Criticizing the university administration, the Joint Action Committee said that even after 10 days of September, no teachers, staff and pensioners were paid their salaries and pensions. Joint Action Committee said that even the elected organizations like PUTA were not making any serious effort for salaries and pensions.

Only a day or two before the pay is released, then they hold a dharna, which is a nasty joke with the teachers and staff. The Joint Action Committee slammed the Punjab government and said that despite 39 days of struggle and after many memorandums, the government did not take any step to solve the financial crisis of Punjabi University.

The grant from the government is the only solution to resolve the financial crisis of the university. If the government does not provide any financial package to the university then it will jeopardize the future of the university. Because of the financial deficit, the work of research, lifetime scholarships, publications, etc. in the university has come to a complete standstill and halt.
