Punjabi university CHRD gets approval for conducting FDC

Centre for Human Resource Development, Punjabi University, Patiala gets approval from Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India for conducting Faculty Development Courses, Refresher Courses and Short Term Courses through online mode. Prof. B.S. Ghuman while congratulating Director, HRDC, Dr. Munruchi Kaur, said that It gives us immense pleasure as we are one of the 37 centres out of total 66 centres in the country which have been allowed to hold faculty development courses for promotions under CAS through online mode. It would be very useful for our own faculty and those from other universities across the county for their promotion cases during COVID-19 , he said.
Dr. Munruchi told that the written approval has been received by the Centre . Now we would be continuing with our 8 Refresher Courses, 7 Short Term Courses and 4 Faculty Development Courses in the pipeline through online mode, she informed.
About Centre for Human Resource Development, Punjabi University, Patiala
National Education Policy (1986) acknowledged the important role of teachers in higher education. During the 7th Plan, UGC conceived the scheme of Human Resource Development Centres to be opened in various Universities. Presently, 66 Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) are situated in various states and Central Universities. They are conceived with a view to plan, organise, implement, monitor and evaluate Academic Staff Orientation Programmes for newly appointed college and university teachers and Refresher Programmes for senior teachers.
The UGC- Human Resource Development Centre of Punjabi University, Patiala was established in April, 2009. It is an inter-university institute which caters to the needs of all College and University teachers.
