Punjabi university postpones semester examination due to PUTA’s ongoing agitation

Punjab Federation of University and College Teachers Organizations (PFUCTO) has decided to boycott all academic, examinations and research work from 01-12-2021 under the ongoing struggle against the Punjab Government for not implementing the Seventh Pay Scales of UGC and for the decision of pay de-linking from UGC. The Punjabi University Teachers Association (PUTA) has been staging a dharna in front of the Vice Chancellor’s office every day from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm in support of this decision and has decided to boycott work throughout the day.
Meanwhile Punjabi University had scheduled the final examinations from 14-12-2021. In this regard, PUTA today specially informed the Dean Academic Affairs that in view of the decision to boycott the teaching and examination duties, no academic activity would be allowed in the university. Subsequently, PUTA submitted a memorandum to the Vice Chancellor seeking postponement of examinations from 14-12-2021. In this regard, after a meeting held in the afternoon, the university administration has decided to postpone the examinations. On the occasion PUTA President Prof. Bhupinder Virk and Secretary Sukhjinder Singh said that if the Punjab government did not accept the demands of the teachers soon then the struggle would be intensified.
