Punjabi university women’s studies centre organized workshop on health awareness of rural women

Women’s Studies Centre, Punjabi University, Patiala, in collaboration with University College Ghanour organized a one-day workshop on Health Awareness of Rural Women to celebrate International Women’s Day. Dr.Lakhvir Singh Gill, Principal, University College Ghanour, formally welcomed the guests and the participant students.

After an introduction about the objective of the workshop by Dr.Naina Sharma, Dr. Amrit Pal Kaur, Dean Academic  Affairs, Punjabi University, Patiala delivered the inaugural address. She called upon the female students to develop a balanced attitude towards life in which they pay attention to their education, health, and nurturing of relationships in order to build a healthy society.

Professor Ritu Lehal, Director, Women’s Studies Centre, Punjabi University, Patiala, in her address to the students, dwelled upon the slogan Choose to Challenge, adopted by the United Nation for the Women’s Day 2021. She expressed her concern about the safety of women in a patriarchar country like India.

Dr. Harprit Kaur, Prof. of Psychology, Punjabi University, Patiala held an interactive session with the students regarding their mental and emotional health.

Dr. Kiranjot Kaur, Senior Medical Officer, Community Health Centre, Ghanour also held an interactive session with the students in which she talked in detailed about the physical and reproductive health of the students. She answered several queries put by the students.

Dr.Harpreet Kaur presented the formal vote of thanks.
