In an initiative lauded for promoting both academic engagement and cultural immersion, the Department of Mathematics at Punjabi University, Patiala, organized a trip to Kasauli on April 17, 2024. The trip, spearheaded by Dr. Shalini Gupta, provided students with a valuable opportunity to explore the scenic hill station while fostering a sense of companionship and appreciation for diverse cultures.

Dr. Mukhdeep Singh Manshahia and Dr. Rupali, esteemed faculty members of the department, accompanied the students on the enriching journey. The trip commenced with a delightful breakfast stop at Haldiram’s located in Fantasia Mall, Jabli. Upon reaching Kasauli, the students embarked on a captivating exploration, visiting Manki Point, the historic Church, the bustling market area, and the breathtaking Sunset Point.

Imbued with the spirit of interfaith harmony, the itinerary also included a visit to the revered Gurudwara Nada Sahib. Here, the students offered prayers for universal well-being, echoing the principle of “Sarbat da Bhala” (welfare for all).

Professor Dr. Parveen Lata, Head of the Department of Mathematics, commended the efforts of the organizing faculty for conceptualizing such a well-rounded trip.  In a statement, she highlighted the significance of educational tours in fostering not just academic knowledge but also essential life skills like communication, teamwork, and cultural sensitivity.
