Punjab’s First Solar Tree installed by students in memory of an eminent educationist

In an effort to add to the beauty of Patiala city, the Deputy Commissioner, Patiala Sakshi Sawhney, today unveiled a solar tree.
The tree is a state of the art green installation made of solar panels that generate 4.5 KWs of electricity everyday. The tree has been installed at Thikriwala Chowk and will be lit every evening.
The Tree has been gifted to the city of Patiala by Tanya Goyal & Carol Goyal of the Mogae from Mumbai, in the memory of Principal Shanta Dhablania, eminent educationist.
Tanya Goyal belongs to Patiala and studied here at Lady Fatima school and is an MBA from local Punjabi University.
The solar tree was commissioned by Mogae to Tata Power who have specially created the landmark installation.
The Mogae group have also been responsible for installation of the Murmurations sculpture at the Matka Chowk in Chandigarh

“We are looking to replicate this effort in Amritsar and in other cities of Punjab soon” said Tanya Goyal.
Who is Tanya Goyal and Carol Goyal?
Tanya Goyal is a wife of Sandeep Goyal, and they have a daughter Carol, who is a lawyer by training.
Sandeep Goyal is an Indian businessperson, media entrepreneur and author. He is the founder and current chairman of the Mogae Group.He was also the founder-chairman and former JV partner of Dentsu in India and Middle East. At the end of April, 2021, he purchased a 100% stake in Rediffusion and Everest, two of India’s largest independent agencies, and took charge as Managing Director. He has been in the advertising, media and digital industry for over 37 years. Goyal’s Kailasham Trust currently sponsors the Matka Chowk in Chandigarh and is putting up a huge public installation at the Chowk.[
Sandeep Goyal’s father Dr. S L Goyal, retired as Chief Engineer from the Punjab State Electricity Board and his mother Kailash Goyal, retired from the IAS.
