Punjab’s Valour Shines at National Level: President Confers Gallantry Awards on Four Bravehearts

Four courageous sons of Punjab — Colonel Manpreet Singh, Sepoy Pradeep Singh, Major Tripatpreet Singh, and Flight Lieutenant Aman Singh Hans — were recently honoured with prestigious gallantry awards by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, during a solemn investiture ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on May 22. The awards were conferred in recognition of their exceptional bravery and supreme sacrifice during counter-insurgency and anti-terror operations in Jammu & Kashmir.

Defence Services Welfare Minister Mohinder Bhagat paid solemn obeisance to these brave sons of Punjab who made the ultimate sacrifice in service of the nation. He also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the President of India for recognising their unmatched courage and valour.

Colonel Manpreet Singh (19 Rashtriya Rifles) was posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra, the nation’s second-highest peacetime gallantry award, for his courageous leadership and supreme sacrifice. The award was received on his behalf by his mother,  Manjeet Kaur, and wife,  Jagmeet Garewal.

Sepoy Pradeep Singh (19 RR) was also posthumously honoured with the Shaurya Chakra for his fearless action during the same operation. His wife, Seema Rani, received the award on his behalf.

Major Tripatpreet Singh (34 RR) and Flight Lieutenant Aman Singh Hans were conferred the Shaurya Chakra for displaying exceptional courage and presence of mind during separate operations conducted under hostile and challenging conditions.

Bhagat said these prestigious honours not only immortalise the valour of Punjab’s sons but also bring immense pride and glory to the state. He added that their sacrifices will continue to inspire future generations and stand as enduring symbols of Punjab’s unwavering commitment to the nation.

He further assured that the state government stands firmly with the families of these heroes and remains fully committed to their welfare and honour.
