Rayat Bahra Patiala students develop e-bike

202

Students of the Mechanical Engineering of the Rayat Bahra Patiala Campus, have developed a on road ready to be used a multipurpose e-bike.

The e-bike has been designed by a group of nine students, Gurbir, Jaspreet, Sandeep, Harmanpreet, Gurpreet , Karanveer, Rohit, Gagandeep, and Gurjinder under the supervision and guidelines of HOD Mechanical. The e-bike has been designed at a very low cost, to drive with no gear at a maximum speed of 60 km per hour.

It emits zero pollution as it is battery operated on 48 VDC batteries, is very light in weight and has simple design. It’s utility on road is multipurpose as it can be used for carrying different kinds of articles i.e. delivery of food items or for shopping purposes and it can also be used as a mobile shop from once place to another.

The special feature of this e-bike is that it is fitted with a stretcher which befits the purpose of rescue operation. The stretcher provides the facility to shift a patient to nearby hospital in safe medical hands. So it serves the purpose of an Ambulance van also.

The power and speed of the e-bike increases automatically due to its batteries installed of 850 watts BLDC motion as comparable to ordinary e-bike batteries of 250 to 350 watts only. Rayat-Bahra e-bike stands on firm foundation due to its durability with metallic body whereas we get bikes in fibre body now–a-days.

Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chairman of the Rayat-Bahra Group, congratulated the students who worked on this project and appreciated their research designing this e-bike cum mobile shop in  metallic body free from body hazards on road.

Dr Piush Verma, Campus Director, exhorted the students to go in for more innovative mechanical projects that can serve the need of providing and making available daily need projects in every village and town at low cost and safe vehicles that could run on every kind of road.
