Red Letter day in the history of Punjab’s cricket; Jay Shah inaugurates Punjab International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur-Mehta

Punjab today created history with the inauguration of a State of the Art International Cricket Stadium conforming to world standards at Mullanpur in New Chandigarh.

The grand inaugural function was organised before the opening match of the IPL 2024. The Secretary of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Jay Shah dedicated the new stadium to the cricket lovers in the presence of IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal, BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla, PCA President Amarjit Mehta, Secretary PCA Dilsher Khanna and other office bearers of PCA.

The PCA President Mr. Amarjit Mehta disclosed that more than 500 girls and boys showcased the cultural heritage of Punjab through Bhangra, Gatka and other cultural performances which made the already charged atmosphere reach the crescendo.

Mehta said that performances by Shashi Singh and renowned Punjabi film actress Sonam Baja captivated audience and were the main attraction of the event.

PCA President further said that with the support of Punjab Government and BCCI, this state of art world class stadium is built in record time of one year. Soon cricket lovers will witness international matches in the new stadium from now on, said Mehta adding that the stadium would be instrumental in carrying forward the sporting legacy of Punjab.

In the end, he thanked the spectators and crickets lovers who turned in huge numbers for the inaugural function during the IPL match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings.
