Rehabilitation Efforts: Moga administration provided electrician training course to recovering drug addicted youths

Under the anti-drug campaign led by Punjab Chief Minister, Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is not only taking strong action against drug traffickers but also making dedicated efforts to rehabilitate youth recovering from addiction. The Moga District Administration is continuously undertaking initiatives to give these individuals a new life and contribute to building a Rangla Punjab.
As part of these efforts, 56 trainees at the De-addiction and Rehabilitation Centre in Janer were provided with free electrician training. Upon completion of the three-month course, Deputy Commissioner, Moga, Sagar Setia, distributed certificates to the trainees. He visited the de-addiction centre especially to interact with the youth.
Addressing the youth, he stated that, as per the Punjab Government’s directives, the district administration is committed to bringing color and hope back into the lives of those recovering from addiction. Through the Punjab Skill Development Mission, the youth were provided this course free of cost. He added that electrician toolkits would soon be distributed to the trainees, helping them to pursue self-employment. The district administration will also assist eligible candidates in finding jobs.
The Deputy Commissioner further informed that, a week ago, a new batch of 35 youth at the Red Cross De-addiction Centre in Janer began fast food training through RSETI (Rural Self Employment Training Institute). He mentioned that under the Punjab Skill Development Mission, more such training programs will be offered in the future to ensure comprehensive rehabilitation of recovering youth. On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner met and encouraged the youth who have successfully quit drugs.
Present at the event were District Employment Officer Dimple Thapar; Gaurav from RSETI; Manpreet Kaur and Pushraj Jhajra from the Punjab Skill Development Mission; SDO Panchayati Raj Rohit Singla; trainer Darshan Singh; Director of the Red Cross Centre, Janer, Harpreet; and In-charge Veerpal Kaur.
