Rejected or Accepted? Patiala’s elected MCs failed to garner one third votes from city residents

Today, the residents of Royal City Patiala relaxed, remained inside their houses and didn’t show any enthusiasm to vote and elect their area representative in the municipal corporation.
Patiala’s elected MCs failed to garner one third votes from city residents as only 33 percent voting were polled today. In 2017 elections when Congress was in power, 62.22 percent were polled.
Out of 60 wards in the Patiala Municipal Corporation, today, the polling was held in Patiala to elect 45 MCs.8 MCs were already elected unopposed in Patiala and elections are deferred in 7 wards.
The last elections was held on December 17,2017.After seven years Patiala MC to have all party representatives. As per declared results 43 AAP candidates (including 8 unopposed elected ), 4 BJP, 4 Congress and 2 Shiromani Akali Dal candidates have won the elections . The result of 7 deferred seats will be additional to these parties.
As per reports, the AAP leads in 23 seats out of 26 from Patiala Rural and 18 out of 32 seats (including 7 seats deferred by HC order).
In 2012-17 SAD-BJP term, the congress had 3 members and in 2017-2022 Congress term, SAD had one member and no BJP and AAP candidates were elected.
In the 2017-2022 elections 59 MCs were from Congress and 1 MC were from akali dal. Before that the congress had MCs in SAD-BJP 2007-2012 and 2012-2017 term and SAD-BJP in Congress 2002-2007 term.
On the other hand Nagar Panchayat (NP) Bhadson polled 74 percent and elected 5 AAP, 3 independents, 2 BJP and 1 SAD candidate in their 11 member NP.
Similarly, Nagar Panchayat Ghagga polled 78 percent and elected 8 AAP, 4 independent and 1 congress members in their NP.
Also AAP candidates have won the MC by-elections in Rajpura, Nabha, Patran councils. Rajpura polled 54 percent, Patran 67 percent and Nabha 53 percent
