Retired IAS appointed as Principal Secretary-2 to Prime Minister Modi

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Shaktikanta Das, IAS (Retired) (TN:80) as Principal Secretary-2 to Prime Minister with effect from the date he assumes the office. His appointment will be co-terminus with the term of the Prime Minister or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Shaktikanta Das is an Indian Bureaucrat official who served as the 25th governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). He was earlier a member of the Fifteenth Finance Commission and India’s Sherpa to the G20.
Post his retirement from the IAS, Das was appointed a member of the Fifteenth Finance Commission by the Appointment Committee of Cabinet (ACC). In addition, he was appointed as India’s Sherpa to the G20 by the ACC. In December 2018, on his appointment as the governor of the Reserve Bank of India, Das resigned from his position in the Fifteenth Finance Commission.
Das was appointed Governor of the Reserve Bank of India by the ACC on 11 December 2018 for a period of three years.
Shaktikanta Das left the office last year after completing six years as the 25th Governor of the Reserve Bank of India.
Earlier former IAS officer P K Mishra was re-appointed as the Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi,from June 10, 2024. As per the orders, “The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Dr P.K. Mishra, IAS (Retired) as Principal Secretary to Prime Minister with effect from 10.06.2024. His appointment will be co-terminus with the term of the Prime Minister or until further orders whichever is earlier,” the order said.
