Rotary Club Rupnagar celebrates Global Handwashing Day

Rotary Club Rupnagar celebrated Global Handwashing Day, celebrated every year on 15th October. The day is an international awareness campaign that inspires and mobilizes people around the world to improve handwashing habits. The initiative is supported by several organizations including the United Nations, World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF and others.
The campaign was launched with an impressive event organized at DAV Senior Secondary Public School Ropar. A special poster designed by Rotarian Professor Prabhjit Singh was released on the occasion. Renowned social worker PDG Dr. R.S. Parmar was the chief guest of the event. He shared that handwashing is a simple task, but it is one of the most effective ways to keep germs away. He encouraged the students and said that they must wash their hands after using the toilet, before and after eating and after coughing and sneezing and should rub their hands for at least 20 seconds.
Rotary Club Rupnagar President Sudhir Sharma said that this year’s theme is “Be a Hand Washing Hero!” This theme inspires every individual to take simple, life-saving action by washing their hands with soap to protect themselves and their community from disease.
Assistant Governor Gurpreet Singh expressed his views and said that consistent hand washing is a daily heroic act that contributes to global public health and well-being.
School Principal Sangeeta appreciated the efforts of Rotary Rupnagar and assured full support in this cause.
Rotary Youth Director Prabhjit Singh informed that this campaign will be run in all the schools and public places of the area to create widespread awareness about hand washing.
On this occasion, Secretary Dr. Ankur Wahi, Rotarian Ashok Chadha, Neeta Chadha, Iqbal Singh and other staff members and students were present. Interact Club DAV School gave full support for the event.
