Rotary Club Rupnagar organises a mega Career Counselling Workshop

Rotary Club Rupnagar today organized a mega Career Counselling Workshop for the students of 10th, 11th & 12th Standard at GMN Senior Secondary School Rupnagar. Event was inaugurated by DC Rupnagar Dr Preeti Yadav by lighting the traditional lamp. More than 300 students from the Government & Private Schools of Rupnagar & around participated in this workshop. In her address DC appreciated the efforts of Rotary Club Rupnagr & advised to organize such events exclusively for the students of Government Schools of Rupnagar. She assured all assistance from the administration & education department. Past District Governor of Club Chetan Agarwal explained the purpose of this workshop & why Rotary is executing it every year. In his address, eminent Surgeon, Social worker & Past District Governor of Rotary District 3038o Dr R S Parmar appreciated the efforts of club leadership & advised to work on the advice of DC Rupnagar & organize events on career counselling for the non-aided & Government schools exclusively.
Club President Dr Namrita Parmar presented a power point presentation on the Rotary activities all over the world, Permanent projects undertaken by their club in past & projects undertaken by their club in this Rotary year. Chairman of this project Past president Dr JK Sharma told that 24 private & government schools were invited from local & nearby schools. He further told that almost 15 experts from the fields of Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Commerce, Social Sciences, Law, Hotel Management & Tourism, Architecture, Dental Science, Nursing, Para – Medical attended todays workshop. He further told that experts on study abroad, Self-Employment have been given special focus so that students can get deep knowledge on these fields too. All experts were given 10 minutes’ time to explain on their subject / expertise & then students went to the stalls of such experts to have one to one counselling of their choice.
District Employment Officer Harpreet Singh Sidhu explained the activities of his department, the registration process to get employment & how students can take the benefits to get job so far. Expert from Industrial Training Institute – ITI (both men & women) explained the trades available after 10th class & about the apprenticeship services being offered to the ITI students. Experts from the SC / ST Corporation of Punjab Government explained the loan facilities under self-employment scheme for those who wanted to set up their business. All subject experts & teachers accompanying from the schools were given mementos at the conclusion of this workshop. Whole program was moderated by past president of club Prof Prabhjit Singh with his special inputs on the commerce subjects for the students so far.
