On January 20,2023, royalpatiala.in News portal did a story on how the forest department, district administration, Patiala are failed to check the display of illegal advertisements of political workers, others on the trees, defying NGT orders.
Acting swiftly, the department in less than 24 hours came into action mode and has start removing the illegal hoardings installed on tress in the city.
On this local resident Rajesh Kumar Verma said “it’s a good step taken by the forest department, district administration to remove the illegal hoardings from the trees. The real test starts now for the forest department and the district administration as to how long they are able to maintain their this stand against the violators. Removing hoardings, advertisement is just a small part of this whole exercise. They must issue challans, notices to the violators to set a trend. There are a handful of vendors who are doing this outdoor advertising business, printing flexes. The department must issue strict instructions to them to not to do this in future and rather help them in preserving the environment.”
royalpatiala.in News Impact; forest department, administration came into action mode. Meanwhile, Forest Range officer, Patiala Mandeep Singh Dhillon could not be contacted despite repeated attempts to know, weather the forest department has issue any challan , notice to the violators or not ?
Since the aam admi party has taken the reins of the state, the workers, leaders are regularly defacing the royal city of Patiala with hoardings at every nook and corner and not sparing the trees. Even other party leaders are on the same boat.
According to an order issued by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) in April 2013, trees should not be used to support advertisements or banners. Several times the complaints to the forest department were made, the only action they had done is, just removed the hoardings and no challans, notices were ever served to any violators.
