Today News portal www.royalpatiala.in highlighted the issue how Kendriya Vidalya Schools are defying Punjab government orders and called the teachers on the pretext of  online classes under the heading “We are not bound to follow Punjab govt orders”-schools openly defy Punjab govt orders in Patiala, call teachers” and ‘‘All KVs in Punjab are open, teachers instructed to conduct online classes from schools’-Principal”, the Kendriya Vidalaya Sangathan has instructed the KV Schools to not to defy the Punjab government , district administration orders and stop calling the teachers to schools on the pretext of online classes in the prevailing weather conditions.

Jugal Kishore, assistant commissioner, Kendriya Vidalya Sangathan , Chandigarh zone reacting on the news said “ Our organization has already instructed the local KVs in Pan India locations to follow the district administration or respective state government orders. If any head of the institution or Principal of the school is defying the orders, he or she will be held responsible. It’s a clear cut violation of the organistaion’s rules.”

Kishore added that “ I had a talk with the school principal, he said “ due to poor connectivity of internet connection in teachers houses, we asked them to come to school and take the online classes from the school’s internet.”

Kishore further added that “today we at KV Sangathan had to cancel an event that is scheduled to be held  at KV Zirakpur, where students from different KVs were going to participate. For us students safety, teachers’ safety is must.”

Earlier, a Principal of KV-1 Patiala, Arun Kumar had said” we are not bound to obey the state government orders. We are a defence school and governed by the Army. Our chairman is a Brigadier. We are committed towards are students studies. We called our teachers as we have a strong Wi-Fi connection in the school. Moreover teachers are living in the nearby within the defence area. Some of our teachers are coming from Ambala and they have taken the special casual leave as Ambala is also under flood threat. “ He further added “ when banks are open, offices, colleges are open than why not school remain open for teachers?” When asked, it means you are openly defying state govt orders, he said “ in Punjab we have 58 KVs (including some in Chandigarh) and all are open. If our chairman (a Brigadier rank officer) orders, we will close our school, otherwise we are not bound to follow local govt orders.”
