On June 8,2023, royalpatiala.in News Website, at around 10:30 pm highlighted the plight of Punjab state power corporation limited (PSPCL) and State Bank of India employees who were made hostages by the Samyukat Kisan Morcha (Non Political) at PSPCL head office, the powercom management immediately came into action and a team led by a PSPCL senior functionaries, police rescued the staff.
When contacted PSPCL’s manager Industrial relations (IR) Ranbir, he said “ Director commercial who also holds the charge of Director Admin Ravinder Singh Saini, chief engineer, myself, inspector general of Patiala Mukhwinder Singh Chinna along with other officers went to the head ofiice and resuced the powercom, bank employees . After that the agitating Kisan’s had locked the gates.”
As per Saligram, who runs a canteen at PSPCL head office said “ yesterday midnight at around 12:00 am Director Commercial came and rescued all of us . After that the Samyukat Kisan Morcha (Non Political) member again locked the entrance gates of the head office”s
As per available information, till the filing of this report, the gates of the head office of Punjab state power corporation limited (PSPCL) are still locked. The management has asked the employees to work online and some of the officers to work from other offices.”

On June 8,2023, Samyukat Kisan Morcha (Non Political) had made around 27 employees of Punjab state power corporation limited (PSPCL) and State Bank of India hostages at powercom’s head office at Patiala. out of these 27, 15 PSPCL employees and 12 State Bank of India employees were being held hostages by the Samyukat Kisan Morcha (Non Political).
These around 27 hostages, many PSPCL, SBI women staff were also not allowed to move outside the PSPCL head office, when the report was filed at around 10:30 pm. SBI has a branch in PSPCL head office premises.
