Rupnagar administration gears up for Hola Mohalla festival

The festival of Hola Mohalla is being celebrated with great devotion and reverence at Sri Kiratpur Sahib and Sri Anandpur Sahib, for which extensive preparations are being made by the administration. To finalize the outline of these preparations and to review them, a special meeting was held which was chaired today by the Deputy Commissioner Rupnagar Varjeet Walia at Sri Anandpur Sahib. Officers from all departments of the district participated in the meeting.
He said that the festival of Hola Mohalla is a very historic festival of Punjab and on this occasion lakhs of devotees from across the country and abroad reach Sri Anandpur Sahib. The Deputy Commissioner appointed the SDM Sri Anandpur Sahib as Mela Officer, the Tehsildar Sri Anandpur Sahib as Assistant Mela Officer, and the SDM Chamkaur Sahib as Mela Officer, Sri Kiratpur Sahib. He said that the police department will make arrangements for security forces to keep a vigil over the entire fair area and antisocial elements. He informed that smooth traffic arrangements will also be made for the convenience of the devotees during this period.
The Deputy Commissioner said that lakhs of devotees arrive here on the occasion of Hola Mohalla for the darshan of holy and historic Gurudwaras, and this meeting is being held in connection with the preparations for the same. He said that for the convenience of devotees, arrangements will be made for health facilities, shuttle bus service, baby feeding rooms, toilet blocks, clean drinking water, uninterrupted power supply, animal dispensary, and proper parking. Traffic arrangements will also be made appropriately. He said that during Hola Mohalla, all departments should work with full dedication and commitment for the convenience of the devotees. He informed that uninterrupted power supply and road lighting arrangements will be ensured during Hola Mohalla. A comprehensive plan is being prepared to stop the use of single-use plastic and for waste management. After reviewing the performance of officers of all departments, he issued necessary directions.

The Deputy Commissioner informed that the entire fair area has been divided into sectors. During the fair, a joint control room of the civil and police departments will be set up at Police Station Sri Anandpur Sahib. A sub-control room will be established in each sector where health facilities will be available to devotees round the clock through registered health dispensaries. He informed that repair work of link roads and main roads leading to Sri Anandpur Sahib and Sri Kiratpur Sahib will be completed before Hola Mohalla. Internal roads, streets, drains, sewerage and water supply in the fair area will function smoothly and uninterruptedly. He said that ambulances will also be deployed by the Red Cross. The general devotees will be encouraged to celebrate a plastic-free Hola Mohalla. He said that a comprehensive cleanliness drive will be started in the fair area. Chlorinated water for langars, toilets for devotees and clean drinking water will be made available.
The Deputy Commissioner said that officers should work with a spirit of service. He said that there will be no illegal encroachments around the roads. All basic facilities will be available at parking sites.

Bhullar, XEN Water Supply Harjitpal Singh, SHO Sri Anandpur Sahib Danishveer Singh, Executive Officer Sri Anandpur Sahib Sangeet Kumar, Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr. Bobby Gulati, and other senior officers from various departments were present.
