Rupnagar Bar Association observes ‘No Work’ to protest against govt’s move to accord district status to Anandpur Sahib

District Bar Association, Rupnagar observed ‘no work’ to protest against the reported proposal of the Punjab government to accord district status to Anandpur Sahib town of Rupnagar district.

A meeting of the   District Bar Association  was held here today under the president ship of advocate Mandeep Modgil to discuss the issue.

The Association unanimously condemned the proposal. it was also decided to observe ‘no work’ on March 7. It was further decided to hold meeting of the association on March 11 to decide about the next course of action over the issue.

The association said that already large part of Rupnagar district  has been attached with Mohali, Nawanshar and Fatehgarh Sahib, districts .The creation of Anandpur Sahib district would not only further reduce the size of Rupnagar district but would also cause loss of revenue and  business of Rupnagar district and it would also cause loss to legal fraternity.

The Association  said that there is a strong dissent meant among the residence of Rupnagar over the proposed move of the government regarding formation of Anandpur Sahib  district.
