Rupnagar DC directs Civil Surgeon to ensure availability of necessary equipment & staff in drug de-addiction centre

Under the guidelines issued by Chief Minister Punjab Bhagwant Singh Mann, the District Administration Rupnagar held a high-level meeting of the Narco Coordination Center (NACORD) today in the committee room of the District Administrative Complex as part of a major campaign to eradicate drugs, in which Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain and Senior Superintendent of Police Rupnagar Gulneet Singh Khurana issued instructions to all SDMs and DSPs that they will work in a joint team to form committees of 611 Panchayats of the district and to take action at the ground level.

He said that the committees at the village level should make the misguided youth aware and motivate them to get treatment and also share information about those selling drugs.

During the meeting, the action taken against drugs in the district, including the framework made to wean the youth from drugs, was evaluated in detail. All the officers were ordered to follow the instructions to implement this campaign more strictly and concretely.

Presiding over the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Rupnagar instructed the Civil Surgeon Dr. Tarsem Singh, that the availability of necessary equipment, medicines, testing kits and required staff should be ensured in the drug de-addiction centers and OOAT clinics of the district and counseling sessions should be given in a medical and technical manner to instill confidence in the patients suffering from drug addiction.

He directed that the needy should be admitted to the drug de-addiction center at the Civil Hospital and complete treatment services should be provided and a weekly progress report should be submitted to his office every Monday.

On this occasion, SSP Gulneet Singh Khurana asked the Health Department to maintain fully stock of test kits for dope test so that due legal action can be taken against every arrested person.

Rupnagar DC directs Civil Surgeon to ensure availability of necessary equipment & staff in drug de-addiction centre. During the meeting, he strictly instructed all the senior police officers and DSPs that no leniency should be given to any anonymous complaint received regarding drugs.

Senior Superintendent of Police further said that more seminars and awareness programs will be organized by Punjab Police in schools and colleges to create awareness about the ill effects of drugs. Apart from this, large-scale action is also being taken against the culprits selling drugs and their properties have been confiscated and this process will continue on a war footing.

On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner Pooja Sial Grewal, SP Rajpal Singh Hundal, Assistant Commissioner Arvinderpal Singh Somal, Chief Minister Field Officer Jasjit Singh, SDM Rupnagar Sachin Pathak, SDM Shri Chamkaur Sahib Amrik Singh, SDM Shri Anandpur Sahib Jaspreet Singh, District Sports Officer Jagjivan Singh, District Forest Officer Harjinder Singh, District Drug Control Officer Harpreet Kaur, all DSPs of the district and other senior officers were present.
