Rupnagar Police arrest 80 drug smugglers under the “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign – SSP

As many as 51 cases have been registered by the Rupnagar Police from February 22 to April 4, 2025, out of which 15 are commercial and about 80 drug smugglers have been arrested under “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign.
This information was given by Senior Superintendent of Police Rupnagar Gulneet Singh Khurana today in a meeting with Panches, Sarpanches, MCs, Municipal Council Presidents, Mohalla Committees, NGOs, Residential Institutions, NCC and NSS cadets of various schools and colleges at Shehnai Palace in Rupnagar district.
He said that 17 kg 242 grams of poppy husk, 2 kg 839 grams of poppy plants, 7,484 capsules, 187 narcotic injections, 37 grams 124 mg of heroin, 1 kg 510 grams of narcotic powder and drug money worth Rs 39,950 have been recovered from the arrested smugglers.
Gulneet Singh Khurana, while addressing the occasion, said that the aim of the “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign launched by the Chief Minister, Bhagwant Singh Mann and DGP Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, is to eliminate drugs from the state. Similarly, the aim of Project Sampark run by the Punjab Police is to increase the proximity of the Punjab Police with the people and solve their problems at the ground level by creating an atmosphere of partnership with them.
He said that suggestions have also been taken from the eminent persons in sampark meeting and common people which will be implemented soon.
He said that 178 Panchayats of the district passed resolutions not to help drug peddlers to get bail.
Representatives from villages and cities expressed their views during this meeting, they also appealed to uproot the drug problem instead of controlling it. For this, the citizens raised their hands and gave full support and assurance to the Punjab Police and the Punjab Government.
