SAD announces candidates for Patiala,Fatehgarh Sahib,Anandpur Sahib

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) announces candidates for 3 more Lok Sabha constituencies in Punjab. It announces sitting Member Parliament Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra from Sri Anandpur Sahib, former Punjab cabinet Minister Surjit Singh Rakhra-Patiala& bureaucrat turned politician Darbara Singh Guru from Fatehgarh Sahib (Reserve). Now the SAD candidates tally goes to 5. Eralier the party announced Bibi Jagir Kaur from Khadoor Sahib, Charanjit Singh Atwal from Jalandhar (Reserve) Lok Sabha seat.

Punjab has total 13 parliamentary seats. Out of which SAD is contesting on 10 seats and rest on 3 seats BJP will field his candidates, as per seat sharing arrangements.

The names of candidates were announced by SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal. Sukhbir said the names of candidates for the rest of the seats will be announced soon.BJP has yet to announce any candidate for the 3 allotted seats in Punjab i.e Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur.

The seven-phased Lok Sabha polls will be held from April 11 to May 19 and the counting of votes will be taken up on May 23. Punjab will go to polls in a single phase on May 19.
