Sakhi One Stop Center in Patiala goes digital; women victims of violence, exploitation etc can access 24/7 support-DC

The Sakhi One Stop Center in Patiala has embraced digital solutions to assist women in need. Women facing domestic violence, rape, acid attacks, child sexual abuse, child marriage, dowry harassment, cybercrime, trafficking, or other forms of exploitation can now seek help through the Sakhi app and online portal. This information was shared by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav, during a review meeting of the Sakhi app and portal today.
Dr. Preeti Yadav emphasized that the Sakhi One Stop Center, located near Krshna Lab at Mata Kaushalya Government Hospital, Patiala, operates 24/7 to serve women in distress. The center aims to protect the rights of victimized women and ensure that they receive comprehensive support and justice, all under one roof.
She elaborated on the functionality of the newly launched Sakhi app and portal, which allows women to file complaints and seek assistance online. “The Sakhi app is a vital tool for providing services such as emergency response, psychological counseling, medical aid, police assistance, legal help, and temporary shelter (for up to five days) through the Sakhi One Stop Center,” Dr. Yadav said.
Applications submitted via the Sakhi app or portal are closely monitored by the district administration and the Sakhi One Stop Center, ensuring prompt action. Women can track the status of their applications on their phones. Several key departments, including the District Police, Health Department, District Legal Services Authority, Social Security Department, Skill Development Department, Red Cross, Education Department, and the Child Protection Unit, are integrated with the app, ensuring a coordinated response to each case.

The review meeting was attended by ADC Isha Singal, District Revenue Officer Navdeep Singh, DSP Jarnail Singh, District Program Officer Pardeep Singh Gill, Center In-charge Rajmeet Kaur, Police Facilitation Officer Inspector Karamjit Kaur, and Head Constable Asha Rani.
