Saturday Morning Blues: Breach in Bhakra Canal near Patiala, flooded agricultural fields

Today early morning the authorities noticed breach in the Bhakra Canal, near the village of Psiana on Patiala-Samana road.
Due to the breach, the water flooded agricultural fields in the sjurrounding areas. The district administration, irrigation department acted swiftly and start repairing the breach by filling it with sandbags.
Deputy Commissioner, Patiala Dr. Preeti Yadav, also visited the site to assess the situation.
The irrigation department officers said ” the breach is around 50-60 feet wide. We immediately reduced the flow of water in the canal ti do the repair work. He further added that “they will fill the breach by today afternoon.”
The SHO Pasiana said ” we immediately alerted the villagers residing in the nearby fields, areas, villages.”
