Save state electricity sector, Massive rally on 4th at Patiala- PSEBEA

A state level huge protest rally has been planned on February 4,2026 in front of Punjab state power corporation limited (PSPCL) Head Office, at Patiala demanding to stop selling properties of Power Department, oppose Electricity bill 2025 and installation of 2 thermal units of 800MW in Ropar, said Ajaypal Singh Atwal general secretary of PSEB Engineers Association. The gathering of employees, engineers , pensioners will exceed 4000.The rally is being held at the invitation of Power Sector Joint Action Committee.
The employees and engineers have been on a warpath over this issue for several months, but the government has not responded. The rally will play a crucial role in deciding the future course of action.
Atwal said that “let’s fight together and save the public electricity sector for the common people of Punjab”.

The PSEB Engineers’ Association has already taken up the matter of their demands with the chief minister, power minister and with the management of power corporation from time to rimr. The delegation even met the chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and requested him to stop the process of sale/monetisation of valuable power sector properties, to clear hurdles in the process of setting up 2 × 800 MW supercritical units at Ropar under the State sector, to look into the arbitrary suspension of Er. Harish Sharma, Chief Engineer, GGSSTP, on fabricated technical grounds and to take corrective action on the illegal removal of Er. Harjit Singh, Director/ Generation.
