Science Festival Celebrations at Punjabi University

Science Festival-2023 was organized on 27-28 February, 2023 under the leadership of Prof. Arvind, Vice-Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala.
During his presiding address on National Science Day, he stressed on the need to change of lifestyle to save environment. Dr. Balwinder Singh Sooch, Head, Department of Biotechnology and Food Technology, said that in this festival, students from different schools, colleges and various departments of the university have actively participated in workshops, special lecture series, science exhibitions, quiz competitions, poster competitions and essay/slogan writing competitions.
The chief guest of this event, Prof. Sudeshna Sinha, Deputy Director, IISER, Mohali inspired the students and teachers to pursue their interest in science to make useful innovations.
Prof. Kulinder Pal Singh, former professor, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, in his keynote speech gave a rich insight into the discoveries and innovations in astronomy and space science. He explained the journey of discoveries of 400 years from Galileo to James Webb and the accelerated pace of innovations in this era. He said that India is setting new milestones in the field of space science. He answered the questions asked by the students in a very interesting manner.
Dr. Gurpeet Singh, Coordinator, Vigyan Utsav, on this occasion gave information about this year’s theme “Global Science for Global Health”. Prof. Manjit Singh Patterh, Dean Research thanked the guests and participants.
