A peculiar situation has erupted in Punjab congress after the resignation submitted by Capt Amarinder Singh.

As per sources, top guns of Punjab congress are making their claims for chief minister and are in a process of showing their strength to the party high command.

Navjot Singh Sidhu has claimed that he has 23 MLAs with him, so he has the right to become the next chief minister of Punjab, as maximum numbers are with him.

Similarly Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh (CM-as per governor, he has to remain the CM till his replacement takes place ) has claimed that 15 MLAs are with him and they all are backing for Ambika Soni to take the reins of Punjab.

Another senior congress leader and cabinet minister in Capt Amarinder Singh govt Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa claiming the support of 19 MLAs with him and wants the high command to consider his name for the post of chief minister of Punjab.

Last but not the least former PPCC president Sunil Jakhar has also made claims with 14 MLAs in his side.

Close confidant of PPCC President Navjot Singh Sidhu and general secretary of PPCC Pargat  Singh also jumped in the arena and claimed the post of deputy chief minister.

As per available information, Ambika Soni has asked the high command that she is not interested in becoming the chief minister of the state. Now everyone is watching ,whom the capt group is going to support?

Due to this scenario, the proposed CLP meeting to finalise the name of the chief minister at 11:00 am was postponed at last minute.
