Setback for BJP in Punjab- Kamal Sharma dies

In a major setback to Bhartiya Janta Party in Punjab, its former Punjab BJP president and senior party leader Kamal Sharma passed away on Sunday morning after suffering a heart attack in Ferozepur district.
“Kamal Sharma, 48, went for a morning walk where he suffered a heart attack and he collapsed while walking.. He was taken to a local hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead, said a close aide of Sharma “
“Kamal was diagnosed with a heart problem two years ago, and got a stent placement at Ludhiana’s DMCH. Since then, he had been taking precautions.” said,Dr Baghi, in whose hospital Kamal Sharma was taken.
Kamal Sharma born on 17 March 1970 was an Indian political activist for the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and former political secretary to Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal. He worked from 1985 to 2003(19 years) for ABVP at different posts. In 2004 he was appointed as Media Advisor to Khadi & Village Industry Commission of India in 2004-06. He was again appointed as State Gen.Secy in 2010. In 2013, he was elected head of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for Punjab. He was replaced by Vijay Sampla on 8 April 2016 after having completed the mandated three year term in January.
Hours before his death, he had greeted people on Diwali on his Twitter handle and Facebook page.
Sharma is survived by his wife and two children.
His body will be cremated Monday at 11 am in Ferozepur.
