Dr. Rahul Badru, Head of the Chemistry Department at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University ( SGGSWU), has achieved a significant milestone with the publication of his research in a prestigious scientific journal. His article titled “Tailored Carbon Nanomaterials for enhancing photocatalytic degradation of polyaromatic hydrocarbons” is published in journal Progress in Materials Science, with an impressive impact factor of 37.4. The journal is one of the top and leading journals in the domain of material science and chemistry. Dr. Badru said that the work is a collaborative effort carried out with Dr. Avtar Singh, Research Scientist at Research & Development, Molekule Group Inc., Tampa, USA along with other researchers from USA, Denmark and India.

Dr. Badru and his collaborators emphasized the importance of research in addressing environmental pollution, which is a significant concern worldwide. The article discusses how various carbon-based materials can effectively remove harmful chemicals like polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) using light. PAHs pose a serious threat to both the environment and human health, making their removal a top priority. PAHs are a big problem because they can harm rising levels of PAHs in the environment are causing serious concern. Scientists are studying ways to clean up PAH pollution using different methods. One promising approach is using carbon materials like graphene, carbon nanotubes, and others mentioned, which can be effective in using light to break down PAHs. These carbon-based materials are seen as hopeful solutions for dealing with PAHs pollution.
