Sidhu called press conference,termed the hug an emotional moment

Punjab Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu today held a press conference in Chandigarh said that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a visit to then Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaj Sharief at his residence, with out getting any invitation. Former Prime Minister Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee went to Pakistan on Bus in 1999 on a peace mission . I went to Pakistan on the swearing in ceremony of newly elected Prime Minister Imran Khan, I was sitting in the front row, Pakistan Army Chief came to meet me and he stated that he is doing his best to open the Kartarpur Corridor for Indians. Sidhu termed the hug ‘an emotional moment’, which arose after Pak Army Chief Gen. Bajwa told him that efforts were being made to open the corridor to Kartarpur Sahib.

Sidhu said he has not gone to Pakistan with any political motive but “just a warm invitation from a friend”. He further said that Pak Army Chief said that they (Pakistan) want peace with India. He congratulated me on the 550th birth anniversary of first guru of Sikhs Guru Nanak Dev ji.”I became emotional after getting assurance from Pakistan Army Chief that they are going to open Kartarpur Corridor and they also wanted peace with India”, I hugged him. He is hopeful for a peaceful atmosphere between the two countries.

Mean while Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan comes to Sidhu’s Rescue, Says ‘Those Targeting Him Are Doing a Disservice to Peace’ Thanking Navot Singh Sidhu an Indian cricketer-turned-politician for attending his oath ceremony, Khan said, “Those in India who targeted him are doing a great disservice to peace in the subcontinent. Without peace our people cannot progress,” he said.
