Balbir Singh Sidhu, Punjab Health and Family Minister launched a new ‘True Motion Technique’ (TMT) for knee replacement at Ivy Hospital, Mohali on Sunday. Dr Kanwaldeep, MD of hospital was also present during the occasion.

Speaking during the occasion, Sidhu said that this kind of new technique would help knee patients a lot. Punjab has many knee patients and they could benefit from this technique. Introducing this kind of patient friendly technique helps to improve people’s lifestyle besides increasing quality and duration of life, he asserted.

TMT has been devised by Dr. Bhanu Pratap Singh Saluja who before joining Ivy as Director Ortho has also worked in Australia, Germany, England and Scotland.

Giving details of the technique, Dr Bhanu informed that TMT gives the full range of motion within 48-hrs of surgery. After a knee replacement surgery through this technique, the patient can walk within 6-hr of surgery with stitch-less incision and no further follow-up required. The patient can also climb stairs within 2-day of surgery and go back home without support just in 4-day of surgery, said Dr Bhanu.
